Three people and their pet dog were killed due to suffocation as a UPS battery in the house exploded in the Urumandambalayam Rose Garden area near Thudiyalur in Coimbatore.

Vijayalakshmi is a resident of the Urumandampalayam Rose Garden area near Thudiyalur in Coimbatore, was the mother of two daughters Archana and Anjali.
Her husband Jyoti Lingam died two years ago, while one daughter was employed with an IT company and another was working in finance domain.
Reportedly, alarmed by the smoke from Vijayalakshmi's house, the neighbours informed the fire department on the 15th morning.
On receiving information, the Koundampalayam North Fire Brigade came and broke down the door and extinguished the fire.
A woman and her mother were found dead in the kitchen and another woman in the bedroom. The fire brigade's statement was that the UPS caused a sudden smoke and the woman and her daughter, Anjali, must have tried to rectify it, but the smoke must have asphyxiated them. Reportedly, Archana who was sleeping in the bedroom had also died due to loss of breath.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Periyanaickenpalayam, Rajapandi, arrived at the spot and the Thudiyalur Inspector Gnanasakaran recovered the bodies and sent them to Coimbatore government hospital for post mortem.
The team of forensic experts have been summoned, and the police officers stated that a pet dog at the house has also succumbed in the incident.
This has caused huge grief in the area.
