A Regional Conference was held at the AITUC office here, to elaborate on the demands that will be made in the All India General Strike on March 28 and 29.
Coimbatore: A strike preparation and demands conference was held at the AITUC office in Coimbatore today, 14th March.
An All India General Strike will be held on 28th and 29th of March, in Coimbatore by the Joint Forum of the trade unions pressing demands including repel of electricity law, anti-labor policies of the Centre.
The consultative meeting was held at the AITUC Office and was attended by a number of Regional Executives of Coimbatore, Joint Action Committee of Central State Public Sector Employees Unions including V Krishnasamy, G Murugesan, K Prabhakaran, Anandan, Rangasamy, R Sundaramurthy, S Tamilarasi, Namakkal S Gopal and S Thangamuthu on behalf of the LPF union.
The executives were elaborated on the demands that should be made to press the Centre to drop all four labor laws and withdraw the Electricity Amendment Act and the demands of the farmers should be met.
Further demands including the Public sector undertakings should not be privatized, comprehensive safety plans should be implemented for all construction and manual workers, boards that are already functioning should not be disrupted were also made.
They added queries including the work should be made permanent for the contract workers and until then, equal pay should be paid for equal work. The new pension scheme should be scrapped. SMEs and workers should be protected, steps to be taken to curb the record price rise of raw materials required by the industry.
