A source from the Coimbatore International Airport informed that the airport will remain closed at night from April 2022.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore International Airport caters to people from 7 districts in and around Coimbatore. Various airlines operates flights to various parts of the country and abroad, including Sharjah, Singapore and Sri Lanka.
The Coimbatore International Airport will be closed during nights from April due to runway resurfacing work.
Airport sources said:
“Runways are routinely renovated at airports every ten years. Runway resurfacing work is planned at Coimbatore International Airport. These works are scheduled to start from April. Due to this, air traffic will be completely banned at night especially beteween 10:00 pm and 4:00 am.”
“Due to this the airport will not operate at night. Currently there is air traffic until 11:15 p.m. The flight from Coimbatore to Delhi is the last daily flight. The Air Arabia flight lands in Coimbatore from Sharjah at 3:30 am again. Departure from Coimbatore to Sharjah is at 4:00 am. Due to runway resurfacing work, from April flight service will be provided only until 10:00 PM. Air traffic will be resume only after 4:00 AM every day. Flight timings of the morning and night flights will be rescheduled.”
“However, flight timing will resume as usual at midnight and early morning after the completion of the runway resurfacing work." Airport sources said.
