A 57-year-old man lost Rs.86,369 he had in his bank account after he fell trap to a man posing as an executive of the Credit Card department and would arrange a loan for him.
Coimbatore: A 57-year-old man was robbed of Rs.86,369 by a fraudster who promised to get him loans and fetched his bank details and One Time Password (OTP).
Satish, (57), of DB Road, RS Puram was contacted by an unknown person over phone who introduced himself as an executive from the Credit Card section at a bank and promised to provide him a loan.
Satish who accepted the loan offer, shared his bank details and OTPs twice upon the man’s request, along with many other personal and financial details. To Sathish’s shock, an amount of Rs.86,369 was debited from his account as soon as he shared the details.
On a complaint filed by Satish, the Coimbatore city cyber crime police have registered a case and are investigating the online money theft.
