On the pretext of inquiring about an address, two men in a two-wheeler wearing helmet snatched a gold chain from a 80-year-old woman in Kovaipudur. The police are investigating.
Coimbatore: An 80-year-old woman, resident of Kovaipudur here, is the latest victim of chain snatching, in broad daylight, right in front of her doorstep. Two men wearing helmet, snatched her gold chain on the pretext of inquiring about an address.
On Saturday, Suguna (80) was watering plants in front of her house. Two men in a bike, wearing helmets approached her and inquired about an address. While, Suguna was checking the address, the pillion ridersnatched the gold chain. The duo fled from the scene in the two wheeler.
Shocked by the incident, the elderly woman screamed for help and the neighbours chased the men in the bike. However, they drove away with the chain.
A complaint has been lodged at the Kuniyamuthur police station regarding the theft. The Police are looking out for the chain snatchers and are also checking for CCTV footages in the area.
