'India should be the global leader in 2047' Governor R N Ravi at South Zone Vice Chancellors Conference in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Governor addressing at the South Zone Vice Chancellors Meet at Bharathiar University, stated that India should be in a position to lead the world nations by 2047.



The South Zone Vice Chancellors Meet was held at the Bharathiar University in Coimbatore in which the Six Vice Chancellors in the South including TN, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra participated. The meeting was held on behalf of the Federation of Indian University at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.



The meeting was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi by lighting a lamp.



Speaking on the occasion Governor Ravi commended that the Vice Chancellors present there were academically well qualified. The Governor said that education should be beneficial at the national level and therefore we should all work towards changing higher education. Calling the younger generation the future, he stated that we have been calling the nation ‘India’ only for the past 65 years, he said that the word Bharat was in the Sangam works and the British saw this as a mere land.

Adding that the issues of the public and the society remains the same even though the Governments change, RN Ravi stated that the revision of Education policy every five years has not been completely beneficial.



“There is no balance between the states. Since the formation of the Prime Minister Modi government in 2014, new changes have taken place and the vision has changed.”

There were only 400 new companies in 2014, he said, adding that by 2022, it had increased to 10,000 start-ups. He wanted to decide what India will look like 2047, after 100 years of Independence and in 2047, India should lead the nations across the globe.



“Vice-chancellors should think about this and plan for the benefit of all. In the last 20 years, 30,000 doctors (PhD) have filed research papers.”

He said the research of the students should benefit the people and the country and it would not benefit anyone by preparing a research paper on some leaders.
