Students of Government Arts College, Valparai, Coimbatore District, under the theme Of ‘The Natural Club’ conducted a campaign for three days.
The program started on Valparai Pollachi Road to prevent tourists from disposing of plastic items on the roadsides and to create awareness among tourists and public to remove garbage. The College Principal Selvamuthu Kumarswamy, Inspector, and the forest officer were the special invitees, and led by the Tahsildar they imparted training to the students at the college campus.
The students walked from Valparai to Pollachi Road Block Falsh Estate, for three days to collect the plastic garbage, such as plastic bottles that were dumped on the roadsides.
240 college students and college office workers participated in the awareness campaign to spread the message that plastics are banned and are a threat to nature and its resources, as wild animals might die in case they consumed plastic.
