Coimbatore: Two students from Coimbatore studying at the Crimea University on the Russian border have returned to the city.
The Indian students studying in Ukraine have been coming home to India amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. The parents of Indian students had appealed for leave for Indian students studying at Crimea University on the border with Russia.
The University of Crimea subsequently permitted Indian students who wished to return home to do so.
Students Bhuvnesh Karthik, and Tina Jennifer from Coimbatore arrived by air after the University granted them permission.
Addressing the reporters at the airport in the city, they stated that they had returned because of their parents, as parents are afraid of the situation. More than 70 students have returned to India while more than 1,000 students were studying at Crimea University.
They added that only the Crimea University in Russia has permitted the Indian students to get home if permission is obtained. Arrangements have been made to continue their classes online. The three students stated that the situation is normal in Russia and there was nothing to be afraid of.
