Coimbatore: The heirs of the Para Imam Mahan along with their family staged a dharna at the Rice Shops line in Rangai Gowder street demanding the arrear rent for 12 years.
The heirs of Para Imam Mahan, 22 families along with their children staged a protest in the rice shop area of Rangai Gowder demanding the rent the 10 shop keepers have been denying to pay for the past 12 years.

They carried placards in their hands and staged a dharna in front of the shop demanding rent.

Twenty-two families owned properties there and 20 of them have been rented by different people.
The Big Bazaar street police arrived after receiving a tip-off and held talks with the concerned persons at the location. As the talks failed, the heirs of Para Imam Mahan set up a tent in front of the shops and staged a series of dharna.

They alleged that 10 shop keepers regularly pay their rent while ten others have not paid rent since 2010.
“We have lodged multiple complaints in this regard. The shop keepers have been cheating us and the court without paying the rent.” One of the victims said.
The agitators have demanded either strict action or their rent, either of the two is immediately done.
