Lactating mothers request for a feeding room at the District Collectorate.

Grievance redressal meeting is conducted every Monday at the Coimbatore Collectorate. People from around the district gather at the premise to submit their grievances petitions to the District Collector. Pregnant women and lactating mothers with their newborns also visit the collector’s office to submit their grievances.

Today, a woman who came to the Collector's office with her infant was frantically searching for a place to feed her baby. Unable to console her little one, the mother left with no option settled behind the ATM inside the Collectorate to feed the baby. The 'restless' mother left very uncomfortable to feed the baby in the open.

As thousands of woman visit the collector's office to present their grievances the need for a secured lactating room seems to be a crucial requirement.

Sharing her view of this, a women petitioner at the Collectorate shared that ' It becomes increasingly difficult for the women especially those who are with infants to feed their baby. As we had to wait for long hours, the mothers had to take their babies along with them. The officials should make necessary arrangements by providing them with proper feeding rooms like how it has been done in bus stands and railway stations'.
