Fear of failure in NEET claims life of 20-year-old in Kinathukadavu

The deceased who failed thrice in NEET was waiting for the results but ended his life due to the fear of failure in the fourth attempt as well.


Coimbatore: A 20-year-old medical aspirant died in Kinathukadavu, fearing failure in NEET exam.

In a tragic incident Keerthivasan, (20), son of Kuppusami in Kinathukadavu ended his life by consuming poison fearing failing in the NEET Exams. The deceased had already failed in 3 attempts and was waiting for his results this year.

Keerthivasan was allegedly anxious about the result for the past few days as he found the question paper difficult. The fear led him to consume poison on Friday evening when he was all alone in the house. Keerthivasan informed his mother of consuming poison and was rushed to the Pollachi GH. He was later taken to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for further treatments. However, he succumbed on the way.

Kinathukadavu police have registered a case and an investigation is in process. Keerthivasan’s mortal remains are sent to Coimbatore GH for post mortem.
