15 CRPF cycling rallyists given a grand welcome at Tirupur's Jai Sriram College

The 15 CRPF soldiers commemorated India's 75th Independence Day by taking on a cycle rally from Kanyakumari to Rajkot covering 2500 km.


Coimbatore: Even as 15 CRPF soldiers commemorated India's 75th Independence Day by taking on a cycle rally from Kanyakumari to Rajkot covering 2500 km from Kanyakumari to Rajkot, the contingent were given an enthusiastic welcome at Palladam in Tirupur district. The cycle rally was flagged off on July 22 and is expected to end on October 2.



After cycling about 450 km via Nellai, Kovilpatti, Sattur, Madurai and Dindigul, the cycling contingent reached Jai Sriram College in Avinashipalayam, in Tirupur district on Friday evening. The bicycle rallyists were enthusiastically welcomed by a large number of public, the Arts and Sports Department of the college as well as the police. The CRPF contingent were honoured with shawls, souvenirs and gold, as well as a cake-cutting program to welcome them.



Later, on behalf of the IMGKA karate organization, a grand reception along with cultural performances and demonstration of defence in Karate, Kummiyattam and Silambattam. The Central Reserve Police Commander M D. Fayaz, Inspector Iyappan, Palladam Deputy Superintendent Vetri Selvan, Kattoor Panchayat Chairman Gopal and Founder of the college K S K Sampath Kumar along with other college administrators participated in the event.
