Coimbatore road signals to be remote controlled for the first time ever to control traffic effectively.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore traffic department has been facilitated with remotes to control traffic signals. The intensive efforts of Senthil Kumar, Deputy Transport Commissioner is the brain behind the effective traffic tool being introduced.
As SimpliCity reporters were travelling on Sathyamangalam Road in Coimbatore, a traffic police official was seen operating a remote to control signals. On approaching the official and enquiring about the operation of the remote, the official said, 'This is the first time that a remote signal has been introduced in Coimbatore city. This is hugely beneficial for passengers, public and us. The remote helps direct traffic during emergency times, for example clearing way for an ambulance or for respective officials to reach accident spots. The tool especially is useful during heavy rains or extreme sunny weather. This remote is also helpful in setting automated signals and can be operated at a distance of at least 50 to 100 meters. The remote controlled traffic signal system will soon be implemented across the city, which will benefit everyone in the city,' explained the delighted traffic official.
