Coimbatore: Police in Coimbatore have arrested an employee of a private company under the POCSO Act for sexually harassing a minor girl who is his relative.
Coimbatore and its suburban areas are beginning to gain a dubious reputation for unabated instances of minor girls being sexually harassed. Most of these victims are preyed upon by those living near their homes or in their neighbourhoods. But city police have been diligently arresting and prosecuting the sexual offenders under the POCSO Act.
Murthy (33) of Vilankurichi is working in a private company in Coimbatore and is married with two children. During a visit to his relative's home, Murthy allegedly sexually harassed his relative who is a Class 11 student and was alone at home on Monday. The girl was in tears when she confided in her parents. The parents immediately lodged a complaint with the All Women Police in Coimbatore East regarding the sexual offence. Police registered a case against Murthy under the POCSO Act and immediately arrested him.
