Coimbatore: Health officials have instructed health inspectors to collect travel details of newly diagnosed coronavirus patients in Coimbatore. With the increase in coronavirus infection in the state of Kerala near Coimbatore, the spread of the disease has started to increase again in Coimbatore. The number of daily casualties has dropped from less than 150 in the past few months to over 200 cases again. As a result, check posts have been set up at 13 places including Walayar, Meenatchipuram and Anakatti on the Coimbatore-Kerala border and travellers entering Coimbatore are being closely monitored.
Only those who have been vaccinated with both doses and who have had a coronavirus test within 72 hours are allowed. Authorities have ordered health inspectors to collect full travel details of those newly diagnosed with coronavirus infection in Coimbatore.
A health department official said, "Most of the newly diagnosed coronavirus infected patients in Coimbatore have been travelling. Hence complete travel details of the infected people for the past one week is being collected and it is being ascertained from which areas the infection has spread to them. By collecting the travel information of the coronavirus victims, it will help to find out where the coronavirus infection is coming from and impose new restrictions."
