An elderly woman who fell an auto and an elderly man who was hit by a train dies in two different incidents in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: In two different incidents in Coimbatore, an old woman traveling in an auto fell and the old man who was hit by train dies.
Police said, "Ponnuthayi, 65, wife of Srinivasan, 65, from Gandhi Park Mahaliamman Kovil Road, Coimbatore, was on her way to her relative's house in an auto. Then the driver suddenly braked as a cow came across as it was passing near the private school on the road. Ponnuthayi, who was in the auto, accidentally fell down and was injured in the accident. She was rushed to Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment but she died last night succumbing to injuries. Coimbatore R.S. Puram police have registered a case and are investigating.
In another incident a 65-year-old man was found dead on the tracks between Somanur and Sulur in Coimbatore. Police led by Podanur Railway Police Sub-Inspector Selvarani rushed to the spot. They recovered the body and sent it to Coimbatore Government Hospital for autopsy. Police are investigating his identity. Investigations revealed that he was hit by the train while trying to cross tracks.
