A circular distribution officer seized 320 kg of ration rice which was to be smuggled to Kerala near Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: The Kinathukadavu Supply Officer (Circle) Muthu received a tip off that free ration rice which was being distributed in Veerappagavundanur on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border near Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore district was being smuggled to Kerala in a two-wheeler.
During the intensive raids carried out by the Supply Officer and his team at Veerappagavundanur on Wednesday morning, a motorist on a two-wheeler with three bundles was stopped and searched. The driver left his two-wheeler and the ration rice bundles, and fled from the spot. Following this, the Supply Officer (Circle) confiscated the 320 kg of ration rice in the three bundles on the two-wheeler. The police are currently investigating to find out about the people involved in the smuggling of ration rice.
