Coimbatore: Small and Medium scale industries has filed a petition with the District Collector seeking not to force closure of small factories at 5 pm as a precautionary measure against coronavirus.
In the petition submitted to the District Collector by Small and Medium scale industries, it said, 'We are in compliance with the safety regulations in accordance with the Government of Tamil Nadu's Guidelines on Coronavirus Prevention Rules and the Notice No. 8106/2021 issued by the District Collector of Coimbatore on 31.07.2021. We are careful not to cause coronavirus spread infection in any way. According to the order of the District Collector, only shops and businesses should be closed after 5 pm. No restrictions have been imposed on the operation of small factories. But the monitoring forces of the Coimbatore Corporation have forced the closure of factories in areas like Ratnapuri above 5 pm on Saturday (07.08.2021) and are imposing fines . Some have only been fined and have not been a receipt.'
They further said, 'Small-scale industries are already suffering from a number of problems, such as a two-month curfew and rising commodity prices. We are struggling hard to recover from the impact. In this case, it is depressing for the Coimbatore Corporation officials to arbitrarily impose fines and harassment in violation of the rules. We urge you to immediately intervene and inform the corporation authorities that there is no ban on the operation of factories that run 24 hours a day.'
