RPF arrests man for smuggling 37 kg of silver on a train

Coimbatore: Railway Security Force police checked the belongings of the passengers at the Palakkad Junction railway station last evening.


Coimbatore: Railway Security Force police checked the belongings of the passengers at the Palakkad Junction railway station last evening.

Police then questioned a passenger on suspicion. Following his contradictory replies police searched the passenger's belongings. He had 31.660 kgof silver worth Rs 22 lakh 80 thousand. Sheikh Mohammed, 42, of Thrissur, said in a series of inquiries that he bought silver jewelry from Salem and took it by train to gold dealers in the Kunnamkulam area of Thrissur.

But he has no evidence of that. Being skeptical about this Palakkad Railway Police have registered a case and arrested Sheikh Mohammad and the silver was confiscated.
