Coimbatore: Anganwadi staff and assistants in Coimbatore district have been appointed by the district administration as frontline staff and are engaged in corona census work.
Currently, more than 4,000 employees are engaged in door-to-door surveys in the Coimbatore district due to the rising incidence of coronavirus cases.

Yesterday, more than 100 Anganwadi workers besieged the Pollachi Sub-Collector Office, claiming that the workload was increasing and causing stress as officials from the four departments, including the health department and the revenue department, had to carry out various tasks.
He said it was unfortunate that the government had not yet given them the incentives to take up various tasks as frontline staff as the Anganwadi Centers were being not opened and only the departmental work was being carried out. They have demanded that the district administration exempt them from Coronavirus prevention work.
