Mobile store owners petition Pollachi Sub-Collector for permission to keep stores open for longer hours amidst the Covid pandemic restrictions.
Coimbatore: In an effort to curb the increase in the spread of Coronavirus infections in Coimbatore district, the district administration has reduced the hours of operation for shopping malls and various sales outlets.
Mobile store owners have filed a petition with the Pollachi Sub-Collector, Thakare Shubham Dnyandeorao requesting for longer hours to operate their stores since their business has been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions and lockdown.

"Since we have been into sale of mobile phones as a small business, we have already lost our livelihood due to the economic crisis and the weakening of our businesses due to the curfew. The vast majority of mobile phone business is done online,so already there is less mobile phone business in stores. We do not get any concession from the Government. So we urge the district administration to allow mobile stores to operate from 8 am to 5 pm and help traders recover," petitioned the mobile store owners.
