Coimbatore: Police are searching for a man and his relative who allegedly assaulted his wife and her family when she demanded for divorce as her husband abused her by constantly asking for dowry without going to work.

Police said, Lalita (31) is the daughter of Arumugam from LGP Nagar area next to Saravanampatti, Coimbatore. She was married to Manivannan in 2016 after being in love with and with the consent of her family. Lalita used to work in a private IT company in Chennai. At that time Manivannan did not go to any work. Lalita's father gave him two lakh rupees as he claimed to be self-employed. Manivannan has repeatedly beaten Lalita and her child asking for money.
Following this, Lalita left with the child and returned to her father's house in Coimbatore. Lalita has filed for divorce in the Family Welfare Court. Manivannan and 2 of his friends came to Lalita's house in Saravanampatti area last evening and got involved in a dispute. At the end of the dispute, he started attacking Lalitha, her child and Lalita's family. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Following the complaint lodged by Lalita at the Saravanampatti police station, the police are looking for 2 persons including Manivannan.
