Tenth grade student excessive suicide as mother reprimanded her for continous use of cell phone
Coimbatore: A 10th class student has committed suicide in Coimbatore after her mother reprimanded her for excessive use of a cell phone. Abdul Khader (42) (A) Kannan, son of Thangaraj lives in Shanmuga Nagar, Sanganoor Road, Ratnapuri, Coimbatore.
Schools have been closed and online classes are held for the past year and a half due to the Coronavirus lockdown. Her family hence bought a cell phone for her. Fousiya continued to use her cell phone even at times after online class. This was condemned by his mother and it caused a disagreement between them. Thus Fousiya was depressed and committed suicide by hanging herself last night when no one was home.
Her parents, who had gone outside, were shocked to find their daughter hanging dead when they returned home. Abdul Khader alias Kannan, her father, lodged a complaint with the Thudiyalur police. Following the complaint, the police rushed to the spot, seized Fousiya's body and sent it for autopsy. Police have registered a case under Section 174 and are investigating.
