Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Administration has called on the farmers to set up drip irrigation in the area of 2,150 hectares in the Coimbatore district through the Prime Minister's Micro Irrigation Scheme.
A special camp was held at the Land Revenue Inspector's Office at Kinathukadavu, Vadachittur, Kovilpalayam on the 24th of last month to obtain documents such as citta, adangal, certificate of title for their arable lands to set up drip irrigation with 100 per cent subsidy for small and marginal farmers and 75 per cent subsidy for other farmers up to 12.5 acres. But the second phase of the special camp was held yesterday for the farmers who could not attend the camp held last month
The camp held at the Kinathukadavu Revenue Analyst's Office was inaugurated by Kinathukadavu Tahsildhar Sasirekha, Assistant Director, Department of Agriculture, Perumalsamy and Assistant Director, Department of Agriculture, Anand Kumar. The Department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Atma Project, Agrarian Welfare, and Village Administration attended and checked the documents brought by the farmers and provided the necessary documents to set up drip irrigation.
Arrangements were also made to set up drip irrigation by companies preferred by the farmers
