The temple was found deserted without devotees at the Amanalingeswarar temple on the eve of the new moon.
Coimbatore: Today, on Amavasai special puja was held at the Udumalai Thirumoorthymalai Amanalingeswarar. Special anointing was done for Lord Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu. Udumalai Thirumoorthymalai in Tirupur district is located on the banks of the lake and is home to the oldest Amanalingeswarar temple where Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma have risen together. Farmers who start cultivating in Aadi have traditionally come to the temple to worship in order for crops to prosper and increase the livestock.

Also, devotees from Udumalai, Pollachi and the Anaimalai area come in 100 rekla cattle carts to pay homage to their ancestors by offering Tithi. To control Covid-19 cases access to crowded temples has been denied today on Aadi Amavsai. Due to this, the police have set up barricades to prevent any devotees from entering the Amanalingeswarar temple on the eve of Amavasai and temple staff were also involved in security. Thus, the temple was found deserted without the usual crowd of devotees.
