Tirupur: In Tirupur, Noyyal River, under the Central Government's 'Smart City' project, is being developed and beautified with a water treatment plant, dam and park.
In the urban area, the Noyyal River is located at a distance of six km and on both sides of the river, at 60 locations, on behalf of the corporation and private companies, wastewater is mixed directly into the river.

The wastewater is collected throughout and a wastewater treatment plant is set up in the dam area, where the water is treated and discharged back into the river. It is planned not to mix waste water directly into the river, anywhere in the city.
In addition, dams are being proposed at four locations to keep the river year-round. Meanwhile, Tirupur South DMK legislator Selvaraj today visited the Noyyal River area in the Smart City project and inspected the corporation officials. They also instructed the officers to complete the tasks expeditiously.
Speaking to reporters later, he said "Noyyal River is part of the Smart City project. We will fix this soon and turn it into a beautiful, sewage-free river. In addition, the existing roads will be widened and other measures will be taken without traffic congestion. Road, sidewalk, 'cycling' route, trees and beautiful flowering plants are set up on both the banks. A large-scale park, a playground with wheels and a children's park are also being set up."
