People panic as leopard movement increases in Sholayar Dam area

Coimbatore: Leopard movement has increased in the last few months in the Valparai area of Coimbatore district.

Video footage of such wildlife movement in residential neighbourhoods went viral on social media, causing more fear and panic among people.

The Forest Department has been intensively monitoring the area comprising of many resorts, especially in the Sholayar Dam area, next to Valparai. Social activists have demanded that the Forest Department take steps to raise awareness about wildlife among the public, to allay the fears of the people since leopard movement continues to be increasing in most parts of Valparai.
