Bikes head on collision: Just Engaged couple who came to buy jewellery killed

Subramanian is from the Periyapudur area near Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district and his son is Ajith (age 23). Priyanka (age 20) is the daughter of Karuppusamy from Thalathurai area. The couple is engaged to be married next month. Ajith and his sister Sevvanthi (age 23) came in a two-wheeler to buy jewellery for the wedding at Mettupalayam on the day of Adiperukku and were going through Annur Road.

At that time, the two-wheeler of Abdul Hameed's son Sheikh Alauddin (23) and Sadiq (18) from the Pollachi Kovilpalayam area, which was coming towards Mettupalayam from Annur near the new vegetable wholesale ground, collided head-on with Ajith's two-wheeler and all the two-wheelers were thrown. Upon learning of the incident, the Sirumugai Police rushed to the spot and rushed the five injured, including Ajith, Priyanka and three others, including Sevvanthi, to the Mettupalayam Government Hospital by ambulance.

Ajith, who was seriously injured in the accident, succumbed to his injuries. Priyanka died on the way to a private hospital in Coimbatore after receiving first aid. Also, 3 injured persons are being treated at Mettupalayam Government Hospital. The Sirumugai police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.

According to her cousin Kavita, Priyanka had 3 sisters. All of them are married and Priyanka's father Karuppasamy has been suffering from a stroke and has just recovered a few days ago. She said that he does not know anything about Priyanka's death. Priyanka is engaged to be married on September 10. The accident took place when she was returning home from Mettupalayam. As the engaged couple have died tragically, she has requested the Government of Tamil Nadu to provide relief.

The incident in which two couples were killed in a road accident has caused great grief among the people of the area as their marriage was scheduled to take place next month.
