Drones banned in Sulur for 4 days following arrival of President of India: District Collector Sameeran orders

Coimbatore: District Collector Sameeran has banned drones from flying at Sulur Airport and its environs in Coimbatore district for four days following the President's visit.


Coimbatore: District Collector Sameeran has banned drones from flying at Sulur Airport and its environs in Coimbatore district for four days following the President's visit.

President Ramnath Govind arrived in Tamil Nadu on a five-day visit. He attended the centenary celebrations in Chennai. Former Chief Minister Karunanidhi's portrait was unveiled at the meeting. After completing his performances in Chennai, he arrived at Sulur Airport by air from Chennai. From there he reached the Nilgiris by army helicopter.

In turn, 5 layers of security have been put in place at the Sulur airport area. Also, intensive inspection is being carried out by sniffer dogs and bomb experts around the airport. Coimbatore District Collector Sameeran has ordered not to fly drones over Sulur Airport and its surrounding for four days as a security measure.

"President Ramnath Govind is scheduled to visit Sulur Airport to attend various events in the Nilgiris district," he said in a statement. Due to security concerns, drones will be banned from flying for 4 days till the 6th at Sulur Airport and its environs in Coimbatore district. Violation of this will result in criminal action being taken against those involved, ”said Collector Sameeran.
