In the Valparai area, wildlife such as elephants, leopard and bear have entered the residential area and are disturbing the public by hunting and killing domestic animals such as sheep, cows, chickens and dogs. Subramanian is raising two cows and a calf at his home in the Kurangumudi estate near Valparai.

He sent two cows to pasture as usual this morning and tied up the six-month-old calf in front of his house. A leopard from the coffee plantation killed the calf and dragged it into the bush. The leopard ran away as the public shouted and made noise.

Then the public looked at the calf and informed the forest officials who later visited the spot.

The public is in a state of panic as the leopard roams the area to feed on the dead calf. The public has demanded the forest department to remove the bushes near the residence and capture the leopard using a cage.
