Seven arrested in alcohol, tobacco and gambling cases in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Police have arrested seven men in connection with alcohol, Government-banned tobacco and gambling offences in Coimbatore. The Coimbatore District Police has set up special forces to nab those involved in consuming alcohol, using banned tobacco and gambling, and are patrolling the border areas of each police station limits day and night to monitor the criminals.
Seven people have been arrested on charges of using banned tobacco, alcohol and gambling. The banned items have been confiscated from them. Police said, "On the orders of Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, Selvanagarathinam, District Police conducted instense inspection and booked several cases which are:
Alcohol cases:
Cases registered: 03
Arrested accused: 03
Details of the confiscated property: 45 bottles of liquor
Banned tobacco cases:
Cases registered: 02
Arrested accused: 02
Details of the confiscated property: 18 packets.
Gambling Cases:
Cases registered: 02
Arrested accused: 14
Details of the seized property: Rooster - 4, Rs. 2200 / -
The above cases were registered and action was taken.
The District Superintendent of Police has ordered the authorities to take stern action against those involved in these illegal activities. Also, information about those involved in illegal activities can be reported to WhatsApp number 77081 00100. The identity of informants will be kept confidential.
