World Breastfeeding Week: Breastfeeding Bank opens at Tirupur Government Hospital
Tirupur: Breast milk Bank has been launched at Tirupur Government Hospital ahead of World Breastfeeding Week.
World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated around the world in the first week of August. As part of this, the Breast Milk Bank inauguration ceremony was held today at the Tirupur Government District General Hospital.

Medical College Dean Murugesan attended the function and inaugurated the Breast Milk Bank.

In addition, programs on breastfeeding awareness were held by the Nursing Training School students. According to government doctors, the Breast milk bank has been launched with new equipment worth Rs 10 lakh. They also said that donated breast milk would be given to underweight and sick children only after sterilisation.
Also, mothers who want to donate breast milk can contact the government hospital and donate the surplus breast milk. In addition, the Avinashi East Rotary Club and the Achindia Breast Milk Collection Center have been working with other organizations in the district to collect breast milk from mothers and provide it to the hospital.
