Coimbatore: A group of youths from the same area have lodged a complaint with the Thudiyalur police station alleging that some youths were intoxicated with ganja in the Thudiyalur railway station road area.

It also seems that there was a conflict between the youths. Following the complaint, 2 youths were brought in yesterday and the police have released them after conducting an investigation.
More than 50 members of the public from the area sat on the Coimbatore Mettupalayam road at the Thudiyalur bus stand and engaged in a road roko today, claiming that the youths who had complained were assaulted at their homes. The public involved in the road roko raised slogans demanding the arrest of those selling ganja claiming that the youth were being spoilt.
Upon information, the Thudiyalur police arrived at the scene and cleared protestors following assurances that appropriate action would be taken against the youths involved in the attack. This caused a traffic jam on the Coimbatore Mettupalayam road for 1 hour.
