He was admitted to Pollachi Government Hospital for further treatment after receiving first aid treatment at Valparai Government Hospital. He has been shifted to Coimbatore Government Hospital for further treatment. Valparai Police Inspector Karpagam went to the Ayyarpadi tea estate and met the family and expressed his condolences.
He also handed over a package of rice and groceries to the family on behalf of the police. This was followed by an awareness program for women and children led by Kumaresan, Labor Representative of the Second Division of the Ayyarpadi Tea Estate. She appealed to contact the toll-free number 181 to report crimes against women at the event. He also asked to avoid walking alone at night to be safe from wildlife.
Speaking at the time, the public demanded that street lights be set up. The police inspector assured that action would be taken in consultation with the concerned department officials. The event was attended by a large number of public including police inspector Karpagam, policeman Suresh Jayaprakash and labor representative Kumaresan. Similarly, on behalf of the police, the inspector provided relief to the family of Mohanraj who was killed by a bear in the Villoni tea estate.
