Elderly man arrested for trying to rape a mentally ill woman near Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Police have arrested and jailed a 70-year-old man who tried to rape a mentally ill woman who came to his sister's house near Coimbatore.
Police said the man had come to his sister's house in a village in Anaimalai taluk near Pollachi, Coimbatore a few days ago. The young woman went to watch TV at the home of Murugan, a 70-year-old man near her sister's house.
While searching for her missing sister, the elder sister found Murugan trying to rape her sister who was a mentally ill woman and started to yell. He escaped when she tried to catch him.
Following this, the victim's sister lodged a complaint at the Pollachi All Women's Police Station and the police arrested Murugan and imprisoned him
