New Covid-19 control measures enforced in Coimbatore; District Collector and SP inspect Walayar check post amidst rising cases in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran and Superintendent of Police, S Selvanagarathinam conducted an inspection at the Walayar check post on Monday, to monitor Covid-19 preventive measures as well as the test camps, amidst the rising Covid-19 cases in the district as well as in the neighboring state of Kerala in the last five days. The district administration has announced various restrictions throughout Coimbatore district of which 13 check posts, mainly bordering Kerala and Coimbatore, are under intensive surveillance.
It has been made mandatory for those entering Coimbatore from Kerala to show the RT-PCR certificate or the relevant certificate that shows that the person has been administered both doses of the vaccine. For those who do not have such a certificate, the RT-PCR tests are taken at the check post. Coimbatore residents returning from Kerala are also being tested as of Sunday.
18 people from Kerala who entered Coimbatore were tested for Coronavirus on Sunday. Those who gave the samples for testing were not allowed to go outside to get results and were being monitored by health staff. Revenue officials are registering the address details of those who enter Coimbatore without essential requirements.
