Coimbatore Airport operates 30 aircraft, of which 26 are Indigo aircraft


Coimbatore: Flights have resumed at Coimbatore airport following the announcement of relaxation of curfew.

Yesterday, 30 flights were operated and of these, 26 Indigo aircraft were operated. Air traffic at Coimbatore International Airport has been affected following the spread of the second wave of coronavirus infections.

Last May, only 5 flights were operated daily. Air traffic has resumed following the announcement of a gradual relaxation of the curfew. Until a few days ago, there were 10 or 12 flights a day, with a maximum of 15 flights a day on Sundays and Mondays. 30 flights have been operated over two days.

Airport sources said, “The first flight left for Bangalore at 6:00 am on Sunday in the domestic transport section. A total of 15 flights followed that day. The last flight arrived in Coimbatore from Mumbai at 10:00 pm. In the domestic transport sector alone, 15 flights operated on the same day on Sunday. 15 flights were operated on Monday.

The number of daily flights has increased by 15 now, several months after the outbreak. On Sunday, flights were operated to cities including Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Pune on behalf of Indigo and Air India. Of these, 13 are Indigo and 2 are Air India. Of the 15 flights operated on Monday, 13were from Indigo, one on behalf of Air India and one on behalf of Go Air airport."
