Coimbatore: A Corporation official in Coimbatore stated that 18 shops had been sealed in four months for violating Covid-19 safety protocol.
Intensive measures are being taken on behalf of the Coimbatore Corporation to control the spread of Coronavirus.
As part of this, committees headed by the respective Assistant Commissioners were set up in all 5 zones of the Corporation and fines ranging from Rs. 500-5000 and Rs.200 were imposed on those not adhering to social distancing. Shops that continued to operate in violation of Covid-19 norms were sealed and action was taken against them.
The Corporation official revealed, “18 shops in 5 zones were sealed in the last four months from the first week of April to July 31. Shop owners alone have been fined Rs. 2.70 lakhs in the past four months for violating social distancing protocol."
