Brother - Sister arrested for swindling Rs. 1.80 lakhs in buying cashew nuts
Coimbatore: The brother-sister duo claiming to be selling lentils from Coimbatore were arrested for allegedly defrauding 180 kg of cashew nuts that came in a parcel from a wholesaler in Chennai,
Police said Arokkiya Ananda Bhaskar is the son of Savarimuthu from Arumbakkam area of Chennai. He trades in cashew nuts and oil in Chennai. Manjula (29), daughter of Pichaimuthu from Saravanampatti, Coimbatore, and her brother Vivek (28) run a shop called Nuts World in the Boluvampatti area next to Thondamuthur.
They ordered 180 kg of cashew nuts for their company. Following this, Arokkiya Ananda Bhaskar sent 180 kg bundles of cashew nuts to Coimbatore through Travels. The complaint arose that Manjula and Vivek had taken the cashew parcels that came through the parcel to another address through fraudulent documents and claimed that they never received the parcel.
Arokkiya Ananda Bhaskar lodged a complaint with the Ratnapuri police. Police have registered a case and arrested Manjula (29), daughter of Pichaimuthu, and her brother Vivek (28) from Saravanampatti Vishwasapuram area and remanded them in custody.
