Mohanraj, a worker, was killed when a bear attacked him at the Villoni tea estate in Valparai, Coimbatore. The bear attacked another worker again last night. Vasant Prabhakaran / Ashirwadham (22), a worker of Ayarpadi Second Division, was attacked by a bear at 11.20 pm at the Ayarpadi tea estate next to Valparai and was taken to the Pollachi Government Hospital for further treatment after first aid. The incident has caused shock and caused panic in Valparai.
The Valparai police inspector who inspected the tea plantation residential area was attacked by the bear and advised the people there how to protect themselves from wildlife and avoid moving at night.
Valparai Police Inspector Karpagam and Sub- Inspector of Police, Forest Department staff were present during the inspection.
