DMK is ignoring Coimbatore: AIADMK MLA files a petition with District Collector
Coimbatore: AIADMK former minister SP Velumani has filed a petition with the Coimbatore District Collector alleging that the DMK has deliberately halted projects and activities undertaken by the AIADMK government for the development of Coimbatore.
10 MLAs including Avinashi, Singanallur, Periyanaickenpalayam, Pollachi including Coimbatore South and all the officials in charge of the panchayat came together and met the Coimbatore Collector GS Sameeran and submitted the petition. After that, former AIADMK minister SP Velumani, Coimbatore district alleged that there are ongoing irregularities in the implementation of development projects and coronavirus prevention works proposed by all the legislators. AIADMK representatives are ignored at various times.
He said, "The DMK government has stopped paying homage to the NMGR works at Mettupalayam. Representatives of AIADMK, Panchayat and Assembly elected by the people are not invited to participate in government functions and are deliberately ignored. However, some of the party leaders in the DMK who did not win the election acted as if they were elected by the people by attending the Bhoomi Puja of state ceremonies. This is highly condemnable. When Edappadi Palanisamy was the Chief Minister, tenders were sought for development works in Coimbatore, including various bridges.
But, since the DMK came to power, we know that all those jobs have been halted. In all the assembly constituencies in Coimbatore, works such as the sewerage project, drinking water project and drinking water pipe installation have been halted. In the watersheds of Coimbatore, various schemes for rainwater harvesting were undertaken and ponds and lakes were widened. Currently, the DMK government should take immediate action to save rain water as it is monsoon season. When I was a minister, I was given discussions and consultations with the officers who carry out research work in every department in the Coimbatore district. However, there is currently no review meeting on development work in Coimbatore."
He added, "We suspect that the DMK government is ignoring the Coimbatore district. The people of Coimbatore who voted think the same way. Responding to a question raised about the ongoing vaccine shortage in Coimbatore since the AIADMK regime. There have been incidents where officials who can enforce the vaccine have been abusing it and distributing the vaccine to the private sector while distributing the vaccine to the respective areas. DMK should stop it."
When the petition was filed, the MLAs including Amman K Arjunan, KR Jayaraman, Pollachi Jayaraman were present. POllachi Jayaraman complained that District Collector Sameeran accepted the petition, causing a stir.
