Coimbatore: Police are searching for a man who broke into the house of an elderly man near Coimbatore in broad daylight and looted 10 sovereign of jewellery and cash. The incident has caused a stir in the area.
Krishnasamy (82) lives in the Therkuthottam area of Somanur Karunambika Mill Road, next to Karumathampatti, Coimbatore. His wife passed away seven years ago and since both his daughters are married, Krishnasamy was living alone.
On returning home on Thursday evening after leaving Coimbatore for outside work on Wednesday morning, Krishnasamy was shocked to find the locked door of his house broken into. After discovering that his wardrobe too had been broken into, Krishnasamy informed the Karumathampatti police immediately.
The Karumathampatti Police Inspector and Karumathampatti Sub-Inspector Anthony Arokiya Das rushed to the spot and conducted an investigation which revealed that 10 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs. 3 lakh in cash had been stolen.
Forensic experts were called in to check the fingerprints in the house and police have registered a case and are investigating to nab the unidentified burglars who robbed a locked house in broad daylight. The audacious burglary has rattled the neighbourhood.
