Tea plantation worker killed by bear in Valparai
Coimbatore: The death of a tea plantation worker due to a bear attack has shocked and saddened locals.
Villoni Tea Estate is located next to Valparai in Coimbatore district. Mohanraj (36) son of Kulanthai Velu belongs to the LT section and works as an assistant electrician in a tea factory, in Valparai.
On Tuesday night, while walking near his house, Mohanraj was attacked by a bear hiding in the bush on the roadside. Hearing his screams, neighbours rushed toward him after which the bear ran away.

Neighbours rescued Mohanraj who was seriously injured and rushed him to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. Mohanraj is survived by his wife Vijayalakshmi and two sons aged 7 and 9. Later, Manampalli Forest Ranger Manikandan and Police Inspector Maheshwari visited the spot and conducted an investigation.
