CISF personnel seize live rounds of ammunition from passenger at Coimbatore airport

Coimbatore: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Wednesday nabbed a passenger with 92 live rounds of 0.25mm calibre at the Coimbatore International Airport.


Coimbatore: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Wednesday nabbed a passenger with 92 live rounds of 0.25mm calibre at the Coimbatore International Airport.

According to sources, Sasikumar a businessman from Tirupur arrived to the airport to board a flight to Chennai. During routine baggage screening, CISF personnel found 92 live rounds of 0.25mm caliber from Sasikumar's hand luggage. On inquiry, the passenger could not produce any valid document, sources say.

Hence for further investigation, the CISF personnel handed over the passenger and the seized bullets to the Peelamedu police. The issue created a stir at the airport for a brief time.
