But according to the Coimbatore District Health Department, 18,500 Covishield vaccines have arrived in Coimbatore recently, amid allegations that the Central Government had not allocated enough vaccines to Tamil Nadu.
Vaccination camps have not been held in the last few days in the Corporation areas of Coimbatore district, but were held in rural areas on Monday but not continued on Tuesday due to lack of vaccine stock in the Corporation area. Thus, those who have already been vaccinated with one dose have not been able to receive their second dose as per the specified interval between doses.
To deal with this crisis, 18,500 Covishield vaccines have been brought to Coimbatore from Chennai. It is expected that with the arrival of vaccine stock, vaccination drives for the public in Coimbatore Corporation areas will be resumed in the coming days. Thus far, 10,56,782 people have been vaccinated in Coimbatore district as per health officials.
