Coimbatore: AIADMK workers led by former AIADMK Minister S P Velumani staged a protest in Kuniyamuthur, in Coimbatore against the alleged sluggishness of the ruling DMK government.

Various slogans were raised condemning the ruling DMK government at the protest in which over 500 men and women participated.

The former AIADMK Minister, S P Velumani stressed that there has been retaliation by the ruling party. The AIADMK workers accused the DMK government of garnering votes from people promising the cancellation of NEET exams announcing that the DMK would provide Rs.1000 per month to women but have not implemented anything.

"The DMK government had announced various plans to come to power but has not implemented anything. Moreover, the DMK government has not announced any new plans. At the time of the election, they promised that NEET would be cancelled. But no attempt has been made so far. Moreover, the DMK government has not implemented anything like lowering the prices of petrol and diesel, granting Rs. 1,000 per family and halting the construction of a dam in Megadattu.

This government does not care about anything and is not focused on Coronavirus infection prevention too. Since the DMK government came to power, 50 to 60 people have died in each town. But, when the AIADMK government was ruling, we were involved in Coronavirus infection prevention activities for the people. We had met the Prime Minister of India in Delhi and demanded for vaccinations," added S P Velumani.

The former Minister also accused the DMK government of making false allegations and intimidating the police. "The police must act impartially. The AIADMK said it would not be afraid of police intimidation. AIADMK has made progress for 50 years. The DMK government has also cancelled many projects we brought to Coimbatore. This government is an incompetent government that cannot do what we have brought for the people. AIADMK volunteers are not afraid of anyone or anything," he opined.

Many party executives including Madan Gopal, their leader Hussain, Jagan, Vadivelu, Bhaskar, Phulkan Pappanan, Jagadish, Narayanan, Murugeshwari, Chithirai Chelvan participated in the protest.
