Coimbatore Combined Goldsmiths' Association request statue of late Kalaignar M Karunanidhi to be erected at Gandhi Park Roundtana in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Combined Goldsmiths' Association has requested for a statue of late Kalaignar M Karunanidhi to be erected at the Gandhi Park Roundtana to honour Kalaignar who brought pride to Coimbatore by holding a Semmozhi Maanadu conference and provided various development projects to Coimbatore during his tenure..
The Vishwakarma community have asked to be included in the Board of Trustees (as mentioned in the election manifesto) in all the temples in Tamil Nadu under the Hindu Charities Department and to issue the document. In addition, they have requested licenses should be issued at the state level to make and sell gold thaalis (mangalyam) only to goldsmiths and traditional jewellers belonging to the Vishwakarma community.

Following various demands, the Coimbatore Combined Goldsmiths Association met its Chairman, S Raghunathan Subbaiah (SR) on behalf of former MLA Karthik.
Former MLA Karthik expressed hope and appreciation that all the demands put forward on behalf of the Association would be brought to the attention of the Chief Minister and fulfilled. The meeting was also attended by B Dhandapani, Secretary, Goldsmiths Association and Certified Goldsmiths Administrators Kanagasabapathy, Manikavasakam and Devaraj.
