Two youth arrested in Coimbatore for trying to buy medication at a pharmacy in Oppanakara Street to use as drugs by forging doctor's prescription
Coimbatore: Two young men have been arrested for trying to buy medication by forging a doctor's prescription.
The youth reportedly went to a drug store on Oppanakara Street in Coimbatore on Tuesday. They handed a doctor's prescription at the pharmacy for 10 sleeping pills and 15 painkillers.
Vijayarangan, the pharmacist at the store who became suspicious of the writing on the prescription, contacted the doctor whose name and mobile phone was on the prescription. The doctor revealed that the specific medicine had not been prescribed to anyone. Vijayarangan then asked the youth who had given them the prescription and asked them if they were buying the medication with a fake prescription.
The youth reportedly threatened Vijayarangan and abused him. He lodged a complaint with the Big Bazaar Police who registered a case and arrested Mohammad Rasool (22) of Coimbatore N H Road and Sakthivel (23) of Netaji Nagar, Ramanathapuram on charges of trying to purchase drugs.
It is to be noted that youth purchase such medication, dissolve them in water and then inject them into their bodies. It has also been reported that the youth have been involved in illegal sale of drugs.
