An elephant trampled a security guard to death on early Tuesday morning. Muthusamy (65) of Pachapalayam in Perur, Coimbatore had been working as a security guard at a private hostel. A lone elephant attacked and killed him on the spot when he had stepped out of the premises to attend nature's call.

The Madukkarai Forest Department rushed to the scene after receiving information about the elephant attack and have recovered Muthusamy's body and sent it to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for autopsy. The Forest Department is investigating the tragic incident.
