Locals petition Pollachi Collector to implement safety measures to avoid frequent casualties on Sangampalayam-Nadupuni road flyover and request barricades and incandescent lights on the road.
Coimbatore: The flyover on Sangampalayam-Nadupuni road in Achipatti panchayat next to Pollachi had been completed five years ago.

But the flyover did not have road safety features like barricades and incandescent lights. Thus, motorists speeding on the flyover are often involved in accidents and have reportedly died after falling off the flyover onto a residential area, 50-feet below the flyover.
Hence, residents in the area filed a petition with the Pollachi Collector Thakare Shubham Dnyandeorao and explained to him that in spite of their repeated complaints to authorities, no action had been taken.

The petition stated that two-wheelers and four-wheelers continue to veer off the flyover causing casualties and falling on apartments due to lack of basic road safety measures like barricades and incandescent lights on the flyover. The public urged the Collector to implement safety measures immediately to prevent accidents on the flyover.
